What is Inari?

When you visit our Japanese restaurant in Bothell, you’ll probably encounter a dish featuring a curious, golden-brown item. This is called “inari” and, though it may not look like it, it is yet another of our delicious sushi offerings.

Inari, or inarizushi, is one of the simplest varieties of sushi. Far from the layperson’s perception of sushi, it consists of a brick of sushi rice fried in a sack of tofu. The result is quite delicious, and is a popular choice for children across Japan, who often nickname it “brown bag sushi” or “football sushi” for its distinctive shape.
